The new generation of the Renault Scenic will be transformed into an SUV with futuristic lines and modern propulsion technology. We advance all its secrets.
With the premiere a few weeks ago of the Scenic Vision concept, Renault confirmed an open secret: the next generation of the Scenic (the fifth) will abandon its traditional minivan-type body style to adopt a design and aesthetic features more typical of luxury vehicles. SUV type.
According to new unofficial information, everything indicates that the production version of the fifth-generation Scenic will be released in 2024. Among its main features, this new delivery will have nothing to do with its predecessors, since in addition to the exterior design style, its propulsion technology will be different.
Specifically, the Renault Scenic V will be born as a one hundred percent electric vehicle, a car that we can already consider as the older brother of the Mégane E-Tech and one of the direct rivals in Europe of the VW ID.4. Regarding the Vision concept, the production model will initially maintain its dimensions, with a length of 4.49 meters and a wheelbase of 2.83 m.
Unlike the Vision, the outgoing model will not feature the flashy “suicide” or counter-opening doors due to the absence of the B-pillar. This technical resource, very common in concept vehicles, is very expensive and involves many technical and structural complications, so it is more than likely that the 2024 Scenic will incorporate a B-pillar in addition to “traditional” or conventional opening doors.

The futuristic-looking, high-tech interior of the Concept Vision will quickly be forgotten in the Scénic we’ll see in “real life.” In this way, there will be no panoramic screen at the foot of the windshield to “erase” the hood, nor an aeronautical-type steering wheel like the Tesla Yoke or the Lexus Papillon. On the other hand, there will not be four individual seats either, but the interior configuration will have the “classic” design of five seats, with the rear bench seat with the option of longitudinal displacement.
On a mechanical level, the electric motor released in the Mégane E-Tech Electric will be replaced in the Scénic by a new electric motor with power levels of about 150 and 220 hp. In terms of battery types, two alternatives should be offered: one with a 60 kWh capacity and another at a higher level of up to 90 kWh. And their possible prices? From France, they already predict that the “simple” versions could be offered from €40,000.
