Polestar 3 Electric SUV with 600 km of range

The Polestar range will continue to grow in the short term, this being its third model, the Polestar 3 . It is an SUV with a coupé-type roof drop to emphasize its sporty features and because it is a trend in the Premium range. Its international premiere will be in October when reservations will begin in the United States and China, the first markets where it will be offered.

The Geely Group manufacturer does not tell us much about it, except that it will be its first SUV and that a version with a double engine and 600 km of range in the WLTP cycle will be available at launch. In the case of the Polestar 2 sedan, the version with double motor and higher range homologates 455-482 km in the WLTP cycle. There may be improvements to the 78 kWh batteries, but we’ll have to wait to find out.

As for power, if it shares engines with the sedan, we are talking about 408 to 476 hp, depending on the software it carries, such as the recently presented Polestar 2 BST edition 270. If so, it may be reasonable to drop 5 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. By the way, the Polestar 2 is 151mm off the ground, the Polestar 3 could add 20 to 30mm to that, doubtfully more.

It is an ideal model for the American market, which is why it will be manufactured locally, for more precision in Charleston, South Carolina, in a Volvo factory; both the Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 are made in China. Thomas Ingenlath, Brand Manager, said: “This is an important milestone for our company that drives our growth trajectory forward and leads us into a new phase. “

Polestar 3

By the end of 2023, Polestar wants to be in 30 global markets and continue to grow. In 2021 it closed with sales of 29,000 units, glimpsing 10 times more volume by the end of 2025. Models such as the Polestar 3 will contribute a significant volume to the SUV paradise. By 2025 there will be a Polestar premiere every year, filling different premium market segments at a level above Volvo in terms of positioning.

We also know that additional features will be added later. Polestar says that this model will have “autonomous driving” with “Lunar’s advanced LiDAR sensor and an NVIDIA CPU”. And although it is not mentioned, it is intuited that there will be versions with a motor or with less battery capacity, but later.
