With the next-generation 2022 Ford Ranger, a plug-in hybrid version of the pick-up could appear in Germany. Spy shot show the prototype on a test drive. It remains to be seen whether the usual equipment lines from XL to Wildtrak will remain.
The fourth generation of the Ford Ranger getting ready – as Spyshot confirm – and could go on sale in 2022. In Germany and all other European countries, Ford wants to electrify all commercial vehicles either fully or with plug-in hybrid technology by 2024. It can therefore be assumed that the fourth-generation Ford Ranger will sooner or later be plugged in. Rumors on the net say that the Ranger will receive hybrid technology that has not yet been used in any production model and is paired with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine.
There is also talk of the total output of around 360 hp. That would even surpass the performance of the current Ford Ranger Raptor, which makes 213 hp. Whether Ford is offering the electrified version of the Ford Ranger from the market launch or not until a later date, is yet unknown. It remains to be seen how the new motorization affects the trailer load, which is currently a maximum of 3500 kilograms.
As the Spyshot reveal, the 2022 Ford Ranger will continue to be available with a double cab, four doors, and probably five seats. Ford is currently also offering the body variants single cab (two doors, two seats) and extra cab (two double-wing doors, two + two seats) for the pick-up. We do not expect major changes in the designation of the well-known equipment lines XL, XLT, Limited, and Wildtrak.

2022 Ford Ranger Hybrid
As for the design of the 22 Ford Ranger, the spotted Spyshot looks more angular and more simply drawn than the current version. The wheel arches hardly seem to be on display either. Due to the steeply standing grill and the now upright headlights, the front looks massive and brawny. How the Ford designers designed the front and headlights on the inside is currently still hidden under the camouflage. Fewer changes can be seen at the rear.
The vertical rear lights are located to the left and right of the loading flap, the third brake light is now attached directly above the handle. The Spyshot photographers have not yet been able to take pictures of the interior of the 2022 Ford Ranger. There is also still no trace of the price of the 2022 Ford Ranger. The Ford pick-up is currently available with a single cab from 34. 321 euros (as of August 2021). Thanks to a cooperation with VW, the new Ranger will also come onto the market as the Amarok from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, slightly modified.
