Fisker Ocean Prices and the Start of Sales

The fear is over: The Fisker Ocean will come to Europe. The manufacturer presented a special European model on February 28th at the mobile phone fair in Barcelona. The Ocean has been available for reservation for some time with a deposit of only $250.

The prices are now known. The basic version starts in Germany for 41,560 euros – the full innovation bonus can be deducted here, which would mean a price of around 32,000 euros.

A more powerful version called Ultra is available for 57,000 euros, the top version is called Extreme and costs from 70,000 euros. There’s also a 5,000-copy limited Launch Edition One, which will be priced in line with the Extreme variant.

Exterior design

The new Fisker Ocean needs to make waves from the start to stand out in this competitive market, and it does.

The overall design is very angular, with many complex shapes in profile. At the front, the narrow LED headlights are connected by a wide light bar.

The side is dominated by the large, flared wheel arches, filled by 20-inch alloy wheels that can grow to 22 inches. The window line also tapers off at the rear for a more athletic profile. At the rear, the razor-thin LED lights wrap around the side of the vehicle. The rear window also folds down to allow better airflow through the interior.

Overall, the SUV looks very flat and sporty, the bonnet was designed quite narrow for such a vehicle and starts between the headlights. The Ocean is styled in a coupe shape, showing the sloping roofline. Optionally, the Fisker Ocean can also be equipped with solar cells – one of several details that correspond to the ecological ideas of the company founder.

Specifications, battery, and motors

The Fisker Ocean will be available with two battery options. The basic version is designed to deliver 275 hp and has an electric drive on the front axle. This should enable the sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, and the range is 440 kilometers.

The Ultra version has a 540 hp double motor all-wheel drive, and the range is a whopping 610 kilometers. With the Ultra variant, you should be able to reach 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. But it gets even better with the top version Extreme. This makes 550 hp and a range of 630 kilometers should be possible. The solar roof is already included in this version.

Speaking of range – the batteries are responsible for that. Here Fisker also goes a special way, because two different techniques are used. The Ocean Sport is powered by a lithium-iron-phosphate battery. A lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide method is used on the two higher trim levels. The combination with nickel-manganese-cobalt helps to achieve a longer range.

The Fisker Ocean is 4.78 meters long, 1.99 meters wide, and 1.63 meters high and thus fits perfectly into the range of existing compact SUVs.

Fisker Ocean Interior

Fisker Ocean European Version Interior

The founder of the manufacturer has an eye on sustainability, which is why some materials are used in the interior that can be recycled. For example, carpets are made from recycled plastic bottles. Old t-shirts and fishing nets are also used. But that doesn’t mean that the interior looks cheap – on the contrary, you can look forward to high quality.

There are also a few highlights waiting for you in the Ocean. California mode is one of those. All windows, including the Solar Sky roof and rear window, open at the touch of a button. The 17.1-inch infotainment display is also unique because it rotates. If the default position is set, then it is mounted vertically on the dashboard. If you press the button, the screen rotates horizontally and can also switch to what is known as Hollywood mode – only when the vehicle is stationary, of course. Movies and video games can be used in this mode.

The trunk has between 566 and 1,274 liters of space. Roof rails and a trailer hitch are optionally available. The maximum trailer load for the Sport model is 1,090 kilos, if you want the Ultra and the Extreme, the electric SUV can even tow 1.8.15 kilos.
