Maserati GranTurismo E: Hunted on Test Drive

Maserati will launch the GranTurismo E at the end of 2022. It will be the manufacturer’s first model with an electrified drive. We have information and pictures for you.

Maserati is late on the electric trend. The new GranTurismo is set to change that. The sports sedan is to be launched as an electric model. Now, for the first time, Erlkönig has been sighted during test drives.

  • Market launch planned for late 2022
  • The first model with electric drive
  • Design similar to the previous model
  • Electrified coupe and convertible version

When Maserati launches the two versions of the GranTurismo E later this year, the manufacturer will be the first to offer reasonably affordable electric coupes and convertibles.

The electric Gran Turismo has now been photographed on test drives in deep snow. As far as the design is concerned, you can tell that it is a Maserati despite a lot of camouflage foil. Overall, you can see several times that the photographed model is the electrified version of the Gran Turismo. There are fake air intakes on the front bumpers and the usual four tailpipes are missing.

We can’t find a fuel filler cap anywhere either, but there is a flap on the left side of the rear license plate that probably hides the charging socket. We also think we can see that the wheels are a bit more aerodynamic than on nitro versions.

For the first time, the new Gran Turismo will have an electric drive, but there will still be petrol engines and hybrid drives. Unfortunately, nothing is known about the more precise specifications at the moment.

Maserati GranTurismo E Price

An exact date for the market launch is not yet known, but the convertible is to be presented at the end of 2022, and the coupé version a little earlier. Prices have also not yet been communicated, but the electric Maserati will certainly not be cheap. The previous version cost at least 127,000 euros – and was not electric.
