There will be three hybrid variants to choose from for the Arkana. At the market launch, the Renault SUV is initially only available as a TCe 140 EDC with micro-hybrid technology and as a full hybrid E-Tech 145. At a later point in time, probably in the second half of 2021, the micro-hybrid variant TCe 160 EDC will follow.

The E-Tech 145 is highly efficient and recuperates quickly and strongly in the event of delays. This means that in the best-case scenario, up to 80 percent of all routes in the city can be covered purely electrically. If you compare the fuel consumption of the full hybrid with a normal gasoline model, then the consumption of the Arkana should be up to 40 percent lower.

A combination of a 1.6-liter petrol engine and two electric motors powers the E-Tech 145. The motors are coupled to a clutchless multi-mode gearbox.

On the TCe 140 EDC and TCe 160 EDC models, 12-volt batteries are installed below the front passenger seat. Also, a 1.3-liter four-cylinder petrol engine does its job and also ensures efficient recuperation when decelerating.

Exterior design

It is immediately apparent that the Arkana and the Citroen C4 are group siblings. Like the Peugeot, the Arkana has a gently sloping roofline and a striking design that appears modern and robust at the same time. You can tell that the Arkana not only looks pretty, but also wants to be an SUV, by the fact that it has a high ground clearance of 19 centimeters, underbody protection, and protectors in the wheel arches, which are different in color.

If you look at the light signature on the front of the Arkana, you can recognize the C-shaped lights as typical for Renault. The front is also very distinctive and equipped with a large radiator grille. Overall, the Arkana looks modern and self-confident, the lines underline this impression.

With a length of 4.57 meters, the Arkana will be located between the two SUVs Kadjar and Koleos.

Thanks to the large wheelbase, there is enough leg and knee room in the interior for both front and rear passengers. As far as the headroom is concerned, it could get a little tighter due to the coupé shape, but on the whole, you shouldn’t be able to complain about the space available.

As can be seen in the picture, the trunk also offers sufficient space. The rear bench seat can be divided so that larger objects can also be transported easily and without problems. The trunk volume of the E-Tech variants is 480 liters, otherwise, 513 liters fit into the luggage compartment with the rear seat bench up.

In the interior of the Arkana, you will also find high-quality materials, soft-touch surfaces, and good tech equipment. The center console is slightly turned towards the driver and, depending on the version, is equipped with either a 7-inch or a 9.3-inch multimedia touchscreen. There is also an inductive charging option for your smartphone in the center console.

When it comes to assistance systems, you get everything you need at Arkana. Among other things, a traffic sign recognition, a lane departure warning and assistant, a motorway and traffic jam assistant, the 360-degree camera, and parking sensors at the front and rear are included.

Also, the ambiance can be adapted to your preferences with the help of the MultiSense system.
