This is the Toyota bZ4X, Toyota’s first completely redesigned electric vehicle.
It’s an electric off-road vehicle developed in partnership with Subaru that will take on the Ford Mustang Mach-E and VW ID.4 when it hits showrooms in 2022.
Toyota bZ4X 2023 Prices and the start of sales
The Toyota bZ4X was officially launched today. More details will be announced at its European premiere on December 2nd, and it should go on sale soon after.
It is expected to hit the salesrooms in early 2022 and will have a starting price of around 40,000 euros.
Exterior design
Its name may sound like it came from Elon Musk’s “Big Book of Baby Names”, but the Toyota bZ4X is the Japanese company’s first completely redesigned electric car. And it is not so dissimilar to a production vehicle presented at the beginning of the year.
At the front, it has narrow headlights and a sleek bumper flanked by a few air ducts and air intakes, the side profile being strongly reminiscent of the current Toyota RAV4. You can also order up to 20-inch alloy wheels.
The rear of the vehicle features angular details and double-stacked LED brake lights similar to those of the Toyota Prius.
Motors and battery
The Toyota bZ4X will be launched in two versions – a front-wheel-drive version and an all-wheel-drive version that was developed together with Subaru. The first has 201 hp and 256 Nm of torque, the second 215 hp and 336 Nm of torque. Both manage the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.4 or 7.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 100 km / h.
Both versions of the Toyota bZ4X will be equipped with a 71.4 kWh battery, which should have a range of over 450 kilometers. The exact number will be announced when the SUV is homologated next year and the market launch approaches.
Toyota bZ4X 2023 Interior
As is the trend in electric SUVs, the interior of the Toyota bZ4X is pretty minimalist. You have a digital 7-inch display directly in the driver’s field of vision, with a large central touchscreen playing the main role – but underneath there is a double row of touch-sensitive buttons instead of everything being digital.
Toyota claims the interior feels like a living room, with lots of soft textures and satin details scattered throughout. Exact information on the technical data is not yet available, but a panoramic glass roof will probably be on the options list. The trunk volume will be 452 liters.
